France 2009 139 mins. Dir. Robert Guédiguian. With
Simon Abkarian, Virginie Ledoyen, Robinson Stévenin.
Set in occupied war-time
Paris, this depiction of fighters focuses on the immigrants from Hungary, Romania and Armenia who joined Jews and Communists
in the underground struggle against the Nazis. Guédiguian consciously wished to reference the classic ‘Army of
Shadows’ (Jean-Pierre Melville), whilst drawing on his own Armenian heritage and wishing to show the ambivalence that
existed amongst some French citizens towards the Resistance movement.

by a battery of 80 year olds.
